ConstructMyFuture.com is a joint workforce development initiative of the Associated Equipment Distributors Foundation (AEDF), the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).

For 2009, ConstructMyFuture.com has increased the number of scholarships offered from three to 10 due to a donation by Kobelco Cranes North America, Houston, TX.

"We greatly appreciate the generosity of Kobelco. We need skilled workers to meet current and future industry needs, and its support means that more individuals will get a head start on an industry career," stated Stacy Wessel, brand manager of AEM. The association administers the website and scholarship program.

ConstructMyFuture.com is designed to promote construction as a rewarding career choice. The interactive site provides information about the construction industry and job opportunities to teenage students as well as teachers, counselors and parents.

The ConstructMyFuture.com website outlines career options available in construction contracting, distribution and equipment manufacturing, with information that includes job descriptions, career path sequences, educational requirements, and salary ranges.

The site includes a searchable database of more than 1,000 construction post-secondary schools, organized by state and province as well as information on additional industry scholarship opportunities, apprenticeships and other career-building programs, access to industry job boards, and links to industry organizations and resources.

A section targets teachers and counselors to help them connect to local companies and other resources they can use to explore industry opportunities with students. The website also helps parents understand the scope of the construction industry and its benefits.
