Updated Design for Dynapac F1000 GEN 2 Models

Dynapac’s next-generation F1000 GEN 2 Series asphalt pavers, available in track-mounted (F1000T) and wheel-mounted (F1000W) versions, meet Tier 4- Interim emission regulations and incorporate numerous new design features, including enhanced electronic control, undercarriage refinement, and advancements in operator comfort and machine serviceability. The new models use a Cummins QSB 6.7 engine (rated 220 or 230 horsepower at 2,000 rpm and 1,800 rpm, respectively) that features a direct-flow air cleaner, high-pressure fuel-injection system, exhaust gas recirculation, diesel oxidation catalyst, and diesel particulate filter (DPF). According to Dynapac, the pavers’ duty cycle is adjusted to allow the DPF to regenerate without disturbing paving operations in most conditions. A new cross-flow cooling system features a hydraulically driven, temperature-dependent fan that reduces overall sound levels and reverses to clear debris.

The GEN 2 models feature a refined mix-delivery system that uses a proportional, independent auger/conveyor system with a left-side/right-side independent auto mode. The company’s Plus 1 controller, says Dynapac, works with four independent, ultrasonic sensors to maintain a precise head of material under all operating situations. The controller also allows calibration of the paving process through dual, swing-out operator panels that feature intuitive multi-function displays and are positioned at an optimum angle for easy viewing. A fast-fill mode gets paving operations underway quickly, and a clean mode assists in cleaning the machine for the next day’s operation.

Compared with predecessor models, the new GEN 2 Series models provide enhanced visibility, with a platform height of 78 inches and a deck height of 63 inches, the latter being the lowest deck in the industry, according to Dynapac. The low-height design is aimed at providing full visibility to all working areas around the machine, and a low center of gravity, says the company, provides balance between the paver and screed to deliver accurate edge geometry and the best mat quality. Maximum working width for the new models is 26 feet, with a minimum working width of 8 feet. Both have transport widths of 10 feet and transport heights of 106 inches; transport length for the F1000T is 21 feet, and for the F1000W, 21 feet 4 inches.

The 34 kW hydraulically driven generator on the GEN 2 models delivers a constant 60 Hz frequency regardless of engine speed or load. This capability, says Dynapac, allows full screed heating at idle, saving significant fuel during daily warm up. The generator can heat screed extensions and end-gates, as well as provide lighting for night operation.

New undercarriage features for the F1000T include simplified tension-adjustment mechanism, drive-wheel guides, added idler-wheel alignment angle, and easily removed bogie wheels. The new design, says Dynapac, also facilitates access to speed sensors and to the drive gear and motor.
