Reed Construction Data a leading provider of BIM solutions and construction information, has announced it will provide Autodesk (NASDAQ: ADSK) with nearly 1,200 high-quality, parametric BIM objects, representing 17,000 product configurations, for the Autodesk® Seek web service (https://seek.autodesk.com). The Autodesk Seek web service allows architects, engineers and construction professionals to search, select and specify a breadth of rich, high-quality building product content, including 3D models, 2D drawings, visual images and product specification data using Autodesk’s advanced search technology.

Reed’s BIM content includes a broad range of high-quality generic and manufacturer-specific objects containing crucial product data and specifications, which can be used within an Autodesk Revit® information model for placement into project designs.  Reed’s objects, called SmartBIM™ Objects, are designed exclusively for building product manufacturers to simulate actual products within the building model.  To extend flexibility, accuracy and usability, SmartBIM Objects are highly parametric and meet the highest quality standards.

"Architects and engineers are forced to spend too much time creating and searching for the content and solutions they need," said Richard Remington, vice president of product development, Reed Construction Data.  "The availability of Reed’s data in the Autodesk Seek web service will allow quick delivery and easy access to superior BIM objects, data and specifications to the growing community of architects, engineers and designers using Autodesk’s Revit platform for BIM."

The addition of Reed’s large, high-definition library of quality BIM objects represents an important development for the Autodesk Seek service which helps increase the productivity of architects, engineers and designers during the design and specification phases of their projects.

"As the AEC industry continues to move to BIM, it is increasingly important for architects, engineers, designers and builders to be able to rely on high quality data," said Jeff Wright, senior director of Content Solutions for Autodesk. "The addition of Reed’s information-rich object-models to the Seek service is a significant enhancement that will help improve productivity for Autodesk customers and will be a big step forward in establishing Seek as a leading source for online building product data."
