Pumps Concrete 197 Feet

Sept. 28, 2010

According to Schwing, the S 61 SX, with a vertical reach of 197 feet 2 inches, is the longest boom pump in the industry. The concrete pump's net horizontal reach is 172 feet 9 inches. The new model features Schwing's all-hydraulic, twin-cylinder Generation III pumping mechanism, which uses 10-inch-diameter cylinders that stroke slowly to promote smooth output and to reduce wear. Sequencing concrete from the material cylinders to the pipeline is optimized with the new Big Rock valve. The telescopic Super X outriggers provide needed stability, says Schwing, yet require 25 percent less area for deployment than do shorter-boom pumps.
