Liebherr’s first Tier 4-Interim wheel loader is the L580, a 288-horsepower, 6.5-yard machine. Liebherr uses common rail fuel injection along with a DPF which will actively regenerate in most applications, the company says. The Liebherr Power Efficiency (LPE) system electronically ensures that the performance profile is adjusted to maximum performance efficiency by analyzing and adjusting characteristic performance parameters of the hydraulics and engine, according to the company. The resulting fuel savings is up to 8 percent.
