Komatsu Upgrades D65Pxi-18 Dozer with Intelligent Machine Control, T4-F

May 27, 2015

The D65Pxi-18 crawler dozer incorporates Komatsu’s intelligent machine control technology and a Tier 4-Final, 217-horsepower SAS6D114E-6 engine. The dozer is more powerful than the 205-horsepower Dash 17 and consumes less fuel, the company says.

Komatsu’s intelligent machine control system automates operation from heavy dozing to fine grading via in-cylinder sensors. Komatsu says its system saves up to 30 minutes a day spent on connecting and disconnecting mounted control systems

An automatic gearshift transmission and lock up torque converter selects the optimal gear range depending on job site conditions and load. This electronically controlled transmission locks up the torque converter to transfer engine power directly to the transmission, eliminating horsepower loss and cutting fuel consumption by up to 10 percent, the company says.

The sealed and pressurized cab has wide, tall windows; and damper mounts isolate the cab from the machine frame, softening shocks and vibrations.
