SK170 excavator is the smallest in Kobelco’s new Mark 9 series, with an operating weight of 38,656 pounds, a bucket digging force of 24,900 pounds, and a maximum dig depth of 21 feet 5 inches. The 115-horsepower (net) Tier 4-Interim diesel uses SCR technology to provide 10 percent better fuel efficiency and productivity, Kobelco says. A fully automatic engine and hydraulic warm-up system warms the hydraulic circuit to 126F. Intelligent Total Control System (ITCS) has been upgraded with integrated swing priority, which provides seamless and smooth transition of additional pump power to the swing function. Automatic hydraulic regeneration feeds the cylinder demanding oil first, with oil being pushed out of another cylinder. Plug-in capability for telematics is standard on all Mark 9 excavators, and they are all compatible with grade control systems from leading suppliers. (Download the product brochure below.)
