Kawasaki MULE Pro-FX Side-by-Side Has 1,000-pound Carrying Capacity

July 22, 2015

The 2016 Kawasaki MULE Pro-FX side-by-side features single-row seating and a steel cargo bed that is 20 percent bigger than any previous MULE.

Developed alongside the Pro-FXT, the Pro-FX shares the same engine and chassis platform, with independent suspension, disc brakes, engine braking and optional speed-sensitive power steering. The cargo bed has a 1,000-pound carrying capacity and is able to accommodate a full-size wooden pallet with the tailgate closed. It is also able to tow up to 2,000 pounds when the optional hitch is fitted.

An 812cc, three-cylinder fuel-injected gas engine provides 48 lb.-ft. of torque. The CVT combines with an electrically selectable 2WD/4WD system that has a dual-mode rear differential for dashboard-based control over the 4WD and locking rear differential. A high-output alternator, which delivers 60.8 amps at 2,000 rpm (with the headlights on), and a pair of built-in 12-volt outlets, allow users to power accessories such as phones, tablets and GPS devices. The company says a diesel-engine version is in the works.
