Scheckel has been involved in the earthmoving business his entire life, having grown up working for his dad, owner of Scheckel Construction. In 1996, at 20 years old, he established his company with $2,000 and a dream. Today he owns a 21,000-square-foot shop, employs 23 people, rebuilds and repairs equipment, as well as rents and sells machines all over the world.
Professional accomplishments: Founded J.J. Scheckel Corp., Iowa Export Award, founded Service Supply America.
Off the clock: Scheckel owns several farms and raises purebred registered Black Angus Cattle.
Favorite activity: Watching any of his seven kids at their sporting or extracurricular activities. “I love watching how they are developing...their own unique personalities and talents.”
Extracurricular: Donated equipment and labor to build a ball park and soccer fields for youth sports. Ran and paid for a farm safety program that trained over 100 kids in the importance of rural and farm safety issues.
