Caterpillar has expanded its heavy-duty line of Class 8 work trucks with the new Cat CT681 vocational truck, a set-forward-axle model designed for customers who prefer a longer wheelbase truck or who must comply with restrictive load limitations on bridges and roads.

Single-rear-axle MHD 4x2 Mack Granite comes in Class 7 and Class 8 versions.

All-wheel drive versions of Western Star 4700SB (setback front axle) come in 4x4 and 6x6 versions.

Caterpillar’s vocational truck went into production last summer, and units are heading to dealers right now. What are people making of them? That depends on where they stand.

The Peterbilt model 382, designed for vocational markets, is now available with expanded options.
