An electronic module that will be standard on new Start All jump starters will automatically disconnect electrical power to the generator if it runs out of gas. This is designed to prevent repairs that can range up to $2,000, says manufacturer Goodall. Traditionally, running out of gas turns the Start All generators into starting motors, powered from the just-charged battery. This causes the generators to overheat. The new "Run Out Of Gas Module" will also be available for retrofitting existing Start Alls in the field.
