The GEC trencher is a small (275-pound) unit that is powered by either a 5-hp Briggs & Stratton engine or a 5.5-hp Honda. According to the manufacturer, George Evans Corp., the machine "digs a clean 3- or 4-inch-wide trench from 1 to 24 inches deep" and is suited to applications such as installing sprinkler systems, antenna systems and L.P. gas lines, as well as for handling general landscaping tasks. GEC models list for $1,907, or with the Honda engine, $2,227.
