eDaily: Caterpillar Towed Scrapers

PrintEmail
March 11, 2008

Caterpillar entered the towed-scraper business when it acquired E-Ject Systems in January. The company’s four pull-type scrapers are now available in North America exclusively through Cat dealers, and will be sold under the Caterpillar brand beginning in October. There are two sizes – 17 and 22 cubic yards – and two configurations – standard two-wheel pans and an advanced design with four wheels. All models come with brakes as standard equipment, and feature 6.5-inch pins and tapered roller bearings inside the tongue and hitch. The E-17XW and E-22XW four-wheel scrapers each have a parallel linkage that enables the cutting-edge angle to be adjusted for most efficient loading. A walking-beam suspension on the four-wheel scrapers holds the blade more level and improves the ride. Video
