World of Training and the Dig BIG equipment show was held June 26-27 at Planet Underground in Manteno, Ill. Numerous equipment demonstrations were held, and 14 short courses were offered covering a wide range of underground professions.
Underground contractors, utility companies, municipalities, and engineers were able to experience live demonstrations on products such as utility locators, horizontal drilling machines, GPS systems, and much more. Nine workshops covered a variety of topics, including confined space entry, damage prevention, safety, excavating, and locating certification. A ground penetrating radar workshop provided an introduction to ground penetrating radar for the use of locating and characterizing subsurface utilities.
Thirty-nine vendor booths included equipment dealers, safety management officials, tool distributors, and various associations.
