Construction executives are on the “psychological defensive,” according to the Construction Financial Management Association’s third quarter Confindex Report.
The Overall Confidence Index is down 6.5 percent from last quarter and now stands at 116. The 2013 Outlook Index is also down, 3.1 percentto 126.
The Overall Index monitors current confidence, business conditions, financial conditions, and outlook.
Executives are concerned about demand for construction and availability of financing for projects, according to CFMA. During the third quarter, the percentage of respondents that reported that they were “highly concerned” or “very concerned” about the level of construction demand rose from 41 percent last quarter to 52 currently.
