Caterpillar 303E CR Excavator

Oct. 23, 2014

The Cat 303E CR expands its line of mini excavators, with the new machine offering an operating weight of 7,782 pounds. Powered by a 23.5-horsepower Cat C1.3 engine, the Cat 303E CR has a load-sensing hydraulic system that delivers up to 23.1 gpm. It measures 61 inches wide across the blade and has a compact-radius design that limits tail swing to less than 5 inches. Cab and canopy configurations are available, with an adjustable suspension seat.

The hydraulic system on the Cat 303E CR uses low-effort, pilot-operated joysticks that provide more precise, more consistent control than mechanical-linkage controls, according to Caterpillar. Auxiliary-hydraulic controls are integrated into the joysticks. Auxiliary lines are mounted low on the stick, close to attachments, which, says Caterpillar, eliminates the need to use long, flexible hoses that are vulnerable to damage.

The bucket can rotate 200 degrees, and it can be used in a front-shovel configuration. A float function for the dozer blade allows the blade to follow ground contour. Steel tracks are available.
