The 490 and 590 mulcher models replace the 475 and 500. Powered by a Cummins QSX15 Tier 3 diesel, the 490 has 480 horsepower at 1,800 rpm and the 590 has 589 horsepower at 1,800 rpm.
Closed-loop pumps provide hydraulic power for both track drives and mulching head. Oscillating track frames comes with D4 track on the 490 and D5 on the 590. Tracks are powered by heavy-duty planetary drives.
Two specially designed extreme-service heat exchangers are positioned to draw cool/clean air in from the rear of the tractor, then direct it alongside the engine. The open area between the heat exchangers also provides room for service to the front of the engine.
