Under 40 Awards Program Launched

April 2, 2013

The face of fleet asset management continues to change. I was reminded of that recently as I participated in two similar events, both of which focus on training equipment professionals.

First, I presented the wrapup session for Mike Vorster’s March edition of his week-long training institute, the Construction Equipment Management Program (CEMP), in Atlanta. As I interacted with these 30 or so asset managers “in training,” I reminded them that they were the beneficiaries of organizations committed to their excellence.

I then drove to Jacksonville, Fla., to attend the annual conference of the Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP). I mingled with hundreds of asset managers there to further their understanding of the profession. In several cases, the senior equipment managers were there with one or two—sometimes more—junior managers “in training.”

Those equipment managers are this industry’s future.

We at Construction Equipment are launching an awards program for young leaders in the construction equipment industry. The “Under 40 in Construction Equipment” Awards honor those under 40 years old who will lead the industry into the future. We hope to recognize leaders from various disciplines, including equipment users, distributors, manufacturers and others involved in the business.

We are accepting nominations now for the Class of 2013. There is no fee required, and an organization may submit multiple candidates. All we ask is that the nominee be under the age of 40 as of December 12, 2013. Special thanks to Trimble, our Founding Partner for the awards program.

Recognition for excellence goes a long way in motivating young professionals. Consider your team, your replacement, and download an application now. Or to save time, nominate them online.

I have served as the editorial lead of Construction Equipment magazine and ConstructionEquipment.com since 2001.

Our mission is to help managers of heavy equipment and trucks to improve their performance in acquiring and managing their fleets. One way we do that is with our Executive Institute, where experts share information and ideas that will enable equipment managers to accurately manage equipment costs so that they can deliver the optimum financial benefits to their organizations.

We also have a laser focus on product development, performance, and technology; as well as equipment acquisition, disposal, and maintenance. Our exclusive Field Tests take earthmoving equipment and truck into the field for professional evaluations.
