The Bobcat Story . . . And Me?

If you ever want to trip up those of us who ask questions for a living, here's a sure-fire plan: Point a camera and microphone at us, and throw a query or two our way.
Admittedly, many journalists can't take what they themselves love to dish out. Or, at the very least, they aren't used to it.
It was indeed a tad unusual, even for a self-recognized jabberer such as yours truly, to find myself answering questions when TV reporter Amanda Tetlak of the NBC affiliate in Bismarck, N.D. came a-calling at a recent product media event hosted by Bobcat Company. The on-air clip ran on the evening and late-night newscasts on KFYR-TV, Channel 5, and apparently again during news rebroadcasts the next morning.
A brand so renowned that it is instantly recognizable with an actual product type, not unlike a Kleenex or Ski-Doo, Bobcat continues its leadership in compact equipment. Among the product introductions this month in Bismarck is the next generation in skid steer loaders and compact track loaders - the M-Series loaders - as well as new excavators.
As always, we jumped at the opportunity to climb aboard and test out the new machines. And the experience in Bismarck was one of the best ever. As a little guy (short, that is), visibility from the seat to all edges of a blade, bucket or any working tool is always . . . well . . . a stretch for me. The cab-forward design of the Bobcat M-Series loaders makes a world of difference.
Now, if I had only remembered somebody out there might be watching.

The new models came from customer requests.
The first M series machines being introduced actually fit in between machines currently being offered. The dimensions, horsepower and rated operating capacity all fit into a category that customers want, but was not currently offered by Bobcat Company. These new machines are similar in size to 863/864/T200 machines that had been offered by Bobcat Company in the past. However, the new machines have increased performance, enhanced operator comfort and reduced serviceability requirements for a more productive machine when compared to those previous offerings.
