Terex Discusses Plans for Tier 4

November 11, 2009

In a webcast on Tuesday, Terex detailed its strategy for integrating Tier 4-compliant engines into the company's range of construction equipment.

Diesel Progress Online listed some highlights:

• Terex Chairman Ron DeFeo reiterated that Terex had “no interest” in becoming vertically integrated in engines, drivetrains or hydraulics and that by sourcing these components externally could, on a machine-by-machine basis, have a competitive advantage because of their freedom to choose the best technology path for a specific machine versus “one size fits all.”

• As part of that, Terex also said it would not pick between SCR and EGR technology solutions across the board, deferring to a machine-by-machine decision making process.
