ChevronTexaco Line Satisfies Detroit Diesel's New Engine-Oil Demands

March 1, 2005

ChevronTexaco says it is the first to have a full line of heavy-duty diesel engine oils that meet the new Detroit Diesel Power Guard Oil Specification 93K214. The qualifiers are all SAE 15W-40 weight, and include Chevron Delo 400 Multigrade, Chevron RPM, Texaco Ursa Premium TDX, and Ursa Super Plus.

"New engine technologies are much more complex, which means OEMs need lubricants that meet API and their own unique requirements," says Gary Parsons, commercial auto-motive business unit manager for ChevronTexaco.

Detroit Diesel had relied solely on API Service Categories to identify recommended engine oils. It wrote the Power Guard 93K214 spec for use in model year 2002 and newer Series 50 and 60, and MBE 900 and 4000 engines in on-road applications.
