Tractors, Scraper Version

Introductions

Volvo

Based on the 37-ton A35E articulated dump truck, Volvo’s 52,000-pound T450D Scraper Hauler carries 65 percent of its curb weight on the front axle and 35 percent on the rear. With 30 percent of the weight of the front scraper in a tandem tow transferred to the rear tractor axle, weight distribution is approximately 50/50 front-to-rear. The scraper tractor supports a 28,660-pound vertical load, and will pull 209,439 pounds of scrapers without brakes and payload (up to three scrapers). Long wheelbase (14 feet 7 inches) improves traction. Volvo’s six-cylinder D12D diesel engine rated at 414 horsepower generates 1,517 foot-pounds of torque. It is matched to Volvo-designed drive train components specifically developed for construction applications. - 7/1/2009
