$947 Million for New Atlanta Stadium, Dome Destruction?

The proposal for construction of a $947.7-million retractable-roof stadium for the Atlanta Falcons also calls for demolition of the team's current home, the Georgia Dome, because it would be hard for the Dome to remain economically viable without the Falcons.

The proposal for construction of a $947.7-million retractable-roof stadium for the Atlanta Falcons also calls for demolition of the team's current home, the Georgia Dome, because it would be hard for the Dome to remain economically viable without the Falcons.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution also cited a study by the Kansas City-based architecture firm Populous that said an expansion of the current stadium and addition of a retractable roof would cost almost as much as a new stadium.
